I just finished the first rehearsal with my new Predator set. These shells SING!!! I'm not a big fan of single ply heads, they have a little too much ring for my personal taste, but I didn't have the funds to re-head the kit when it arrived. I love HB Predator! the 22"x18" kick is a beast! So much response and boom to it, just amazing, and at such a low price! sweet jesus! And that 14"x4" laquer snare. that thing is amazing. I put a coated emperor head on top and clear ambassador on bottom, and heres what i did: I tuned the heads quite high, then turned off the snare, and unscrewed the thing that holds the snare on the side opposite of the snare trigger, and made it tighter, so it was fairly tight, even when the snare was off, now i can get two sounds out of it!!! A really sharp and cutting sound when turned on and a more subtle noise that still has buzz with more PoP to it. I used the snare-off more than on. I love that snare!

Being a one finger typer i send very few e-mails, however i felt the need to punch this one out. My girl friend was going to buy her 8yr old daughter drums at the local toys r us. Greetings, I just purchased my first acoustic drum set from you guys a Predator 6 piece double bass kit I am new to the hardware world for my first instrument is a guitar and drums are a hobby of mine. I am ultra impressed with this kit. My experiences with drums is in the higher class kits, my current drummer plays a Birch Starclassic with A Keplinger ayeotte snare and my old drummer had an entire double bass set of ayeottes' and i must say this predator sounds every bit as good as the Starclassic and blows away the Ayeotte kit - Jesse

I received the Brass snare drum yesterday and it sounds wonderful.
It definitely gives me the bottom end that I needed. How fortunate can one person be to have such great friends as the friends I have at HB?
I was very fortunate this past weekend to play with one of the piedmont blues greats named Big Ron Hunter. Big Ron had a heart attack earlier in the week and I thought that I may miss this opportunity to sit and play with one of the greats. But being the great he is he was released Friday and we played Saturday. He is kind of a local hero and the turn out was large even in spite of the rain. He came out in a wheel chair and we all played like there was no tomorrow. The crowd and the musicians in the band were all moved by his dedication. I guess I am saying this because I want you to know that I really appreciate all you have done for me and help you have given in raising my musical aspirations. Since getting back into music and purchasing my first set of HB drums I have had more opportunities than any middle age drummer my age should be allowed to have. Warming up for The Guess Who, 38 Special, playing with Doc Holiday members, Archie Bell, sitting in with blues greats. playing with my own band and being called to fill in for others and being sponsored by a very reputable company. Honestly it really is more fun than one person should be allowed to have. So with the utmost sincerity I would like to say thank you. I cannot wait to see what set I buy next year. The web photos don't do this beautiful instrument any justice! I replaced the batter and reso heads with evans and this drum sings! I have played HB drums exclusively for three years. I started lessons at the age of five and continued my lessons all the way through college. Outside studies Include several summer sessions with the great Ed Soph via Jamey Aebersold clinics not to mention percussion symposiums at Indiana University. I was the drum captain for my high school drum line The Centerville Jazz (always a top 10 contender in Bands of America) my sophomore year. I am a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts where I studied percussion with James Massey Johnson and was a freshman at Ohio State University where I studied under Dr. James L. Moore and Linda Pimentel. My playing credentials include the Dayton Philharmonic, Winston-Salem Symphony, Ohio State University Big Band, North Carolina School of the Arts Big Band, Piedmont Airlines Big Band, The Jazz Arts group of Columbus and stints with Greg Allman, BB King, Phil Wilson, Ron McClure, Herbie Mann, Tommy Redd (Nantucket), Archie Bell, Mike Berrier (Nantucket), Rick Skelton and Too Tall Tommy Evans (Doc Holiday) not to mention several small jazz combos and rock and roll bands up and down the east coast. Several years ago I walked away from music for several personal reasons. After a long venture away from what I loved. I decided to jump back into the business with both feet. However, a real job, family and bills kind of put a hurting on my pocket. I could not afford a brand spankin new name brand set. I might as well have bought a car. I was on the search for a NEW fair priced kit. There were none to be found locally all of the so-called entry level kits just were not up to the standards need for a gigging musician. Then I stumbled onto the HB Drum site. Mik and Dave must have thought I was out of my mind. I asked question, after question, after question until I finally made a decision to invest my money with HB Drums and I have not regretted it not one bit. I love HB Drums. I love them so much I own The Predator series seven piece set, The Predator Elite five piece set and a seven piece Duke set. I am also a very proud owner of HB Timbale and roto-toms too. I use all of them but NOT at ONCE!!!! Why would someone have all three? Well in my case my passion for music and playing basically has brought me to this obsession. The other is the quality and craftsmanship of these drums. I get comments like HB I never heard of them about my set before a gig from drummers spending HUGE amounts of money on monster kits but after they hear me play my HBs the comments move quickly to man those drums sound great and guess what they do. I am absolutely in love with my drums. PERIOD!!! Now why do I say HB has a drum set for every level and style? It is easy to say when you own all three and have had the chance to play them in various styles and shows. NO MATTER WHAT YOUR LEVEL or BUDGET may be you can find a winner with HB.

I use my seven piece Predator set (I call her Gwenivere) for my heavy local rock shows. She has a heavy sound that cuts through and mixes well with even the heaviest of Rock. I would recommend the predator set for anyone just starting out or for someone like me who has the training and looking to get back into the business. The craftsmanship and hardware are outstanding. She has also done several recordings with me. My five piece Predator Elite is absolutely fantastic for acoustic jazz and blues. The drums resonate so well they will cut any club gig. Even an amped blues gig. I never have a problem cutting over the amplified stuff when I play Jasmine. (yes I name all my sets). I would recommend the Predator Elite for any intermediate player or any professional who is looking for a deep resonant sound. Last but certainly not least is The Duke Series. I call her Lucy she is a fiery red head of a set that cannot be tamed. If you are a constantly gigging professional The Duke Series is what you want. The Duke has it all. Suspended toms, Heavy Duty Hardware, beautiful finishes and best of all the HB warranty. I use The Duke when I am on the road and when I do big name gigs. She just sounds great and looks great. I have recently used The Duke in the studio and the sound engineers have loved her. We made NO adjustments to the overall sound of the drums. Recorded them flat and they rival ANY name brand out there. So if you are considering investing in a new set of drums look at HB closely. Hey Dave, Sorry this has taken so long to write and say thanks for the Grand Prize. But between the daytime gig and music I have been outrageously busy.  My Kameleon Kolors set is awesome. She is beautiful and SOUNDS FANTASTIC!!! My bass player loved the color so much he went out and got his bass done the same way.  I cannot get over the way she resonates. I use her on my smaller Blues and Jazz shows and her tone is like Ella Fitzgerald...smooth and punchy. I have named her Jasmine because of her exotic look and intoxicating sounds. At First Gwenivere was jealous but now she is fine! She knows I will not leave her long. Jasmine and Gwen both say hi and that all is going well..they keep asking me when I am going to fly Duke home.(their brother)..LOL. The new Duke 7 is MIGHTY appealing...HB Drums are like an addiction...take care and again thanks so much for your awesome product and outstanding service. Kevin Ratermann

Hey guys, i just wanted to say that i think HB Drums is one of the best companies i have encountered. i live in florida, and i found out about HB through my friend who lives in cali. he told me that buying from you guys would save me money and give me a set that would make my dreams come true, and well after concideration i bought my HB Preadator 11 piece drumset, and man do i LOVE it. i now have it complete with 11 cymbals on a rack. its looks HUGE and VERY NICE. what most impressed me about HB is the quality of the set. greatest quality! Simply....... HB Drums ROCK! I have been playing now for about 15 years off and on. And have had several kits. Pearl export was my last. These drums are very comparable. The overall quality and sound is awsome! I have been searching for the best fit for my needs. HB wins!!! 39 years of playing, both professionally and for my own enjoyment has, for better or worse, made me extremely picky when it comes to my instruments. About six months ago I purchased what ended up becoming a 13 piece Predator set. After some initial bumps (as Dave will attest) things began to smooth out and I can honestly say, my HBs are the best drums I ever played. Notice I didn't say "best value" or "good for the price" they are simply great! Sure, the set needed tweaking, but ultimately all sets do. No set is perfect out of the box unless you are big on compromise. I'm not. In retrospect, I wish I'd have gone for the Elite, but only for appearance, I can't imagine them sounding better. These drums are monsters. with killer tone, projection and even muted for studio work they are bright and musical. The key, I believe, is the shells, they are truly quality components that given the proper TLC can produce professional results at a unbelievable price point. When I gig with them, drum snobs snicker as I set them up, they're not the big name drums plastered all over the pages of "Drum" or Modern Drummer, you don't see them at the chain music stores. But after the first set, the "snobs" are all over me with "Where did you get those" or "How come I never heard of HB" now I'm the one snickering. Hey folks, I gotta tell ya these are the best! I ordered my drums and within a week they were in my house set up and getting played. I couldn't wait till the other 2 toms make it too send you a couple of pics of me and my new set. They sound incredible and look like a very high priced set, what a great buy! I have been playing drums since the seventh grade, (some time ago). In the early 70's I picked up a nice set of new Slingerland drums. I still have the set. Rock was my favorite sound and many bands later the drums are used in our Church now, they still sound great! I seen the HB drums first on ebay. I liked what I read and seen. Solid birch with lacquer finish! It got my attention. I have been wanting another set for the house and studio, so I bought a Predator Elite set in Rip Tide Red. Didn't take long to get them and set them up. These drums sound great! Deep rich sound, clear and they hold there pitch. Soon after playing them I got on the phone and ordered a 14 inch tom and tom stand. (Can't have to many drums I always say). The finish was the same and the sound was great. My two son's are playing the drums also. Zachary Kite age 13 and Joshua Kite age 11. They wanted me to bring the drums home from Church so we could play them more often. I believe Investing in this set of HB's was a great idea. Now the thing is, these look and sound so good I think we'll have to take these to Church and liven up the morning worship service! yeah!!!  Thanks. RIK.

Five months ago I stumbled onto the HB website and buying my drums from you was probably one of the best decisions I've made so far, second to switching to drums from guitar. I remember the day it arrived. I had just come home from school and there were these two huge boxes in the middle of my living room. I immediately began to assemble it. And from the moment I laid my drumstick on those clear HB heads, I haven't taken them off (the sticks nor the heads). It took me a while to tune them to my liking but I tuned them and they sound just as good, if not better, than any other drum set out there. I still have the HB heads on all the toms, except the 10" which I hit too hard. Off the bat, the appearance is great. At shows, people complimented me on their shine in the light, surprised it wasn't a thousand-dollar drum set they had foolishly wasted money on. Second of all, the tone is great. Every time I hit the floor tom together with the toms, I feel I'm hitting African Djembes, so full of power and attack. And lastly, I love the confidence it has given me the times I've stepped onto a stage, knowing that as long as my arms don't fall off, they won't give up. My HB drumset is awesome! I have two toms, one floor tom, a ride cymbal, a high-hat cymbal, a bass drum and a snare drum. The toms are easy to hit and to adjust. They also have a nice, full sound. The snare is tight, and the bass has a powerful thumping beat. The ride has a very good metallic sound on the bell, the rim, and the bow.  I'm 11 years old and this drum set is perfect for me. I have only been playing for 2 months, but I sound great, thanks to HB. I bought this HB kit for my 9 year old son. He loves it. The finish is nice and the drums sound great. My son Jake has learned some basic 4/4 rock beats and can now jam with me on 80's metal tunes and classic rock tunes. Let me introduce you to Gwenivere. She is a blonde beauty that takes care of me EVERYTIME I play. She has not let me down one time and we are always on the go. She has traveled with me all over the Carolina's, Georgia, Maryland and Florida. She is the envy of every other drummer's eye.  They cannot believe the sound that she gives me. We play all styles of music together with several groups...jazz, rock , southern rock, country, blues....and she loves them all. And let me tell you her hardware is hot!!! She has not had one breakdown and not one slip...SHE is Awesome and her skin is smooth and shiny when the lights hit her on stage her pacific white skin shimmers. Once we start to play she becomes quite the dance. The rhythms and sounds keep the floor moving all night long. Oh yea there are drums out there from the ritzy section of town...but Gwenivere crushes them all. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE her and would not trade her ever for higher priced model. SHE ROCKS PERIOD..and I need to thank the folks at HB who introduced me to her. It has been about a year since I bought my 5 piece sea foam green kit from you.  They are still sounding great!I have started playing at the Opry here in Amarillo,Tx,at the Big Texan steakhouse on tuesday nights.I am playing the bass and the drums.  I'm using the 16" floor tom as an upright kick, with the HB pedal turned around, and I'm using the matching snare,vertically mounted, with a ludwig pedal.  I'm playing a Danelectro 58 ri Longhorn Bass.The cocktail style setup on the 16 comes in handy for songs like "The Twist".When we do a break in the song,I grab a stick and play the floor tom.  I have played this kit quite a bit in the last year,and it doesn't matter if it's two,or five pieces they have given me the sound I want.  Thanks Dave. Well what can I say...the drums not only look awesome but sound great. The delivery was just on time as promised and thank the drum gods. I received my new 7 piece predator on Wednesday and had my first rehearsal with my new band on Friday. All the band members could say is that the set sounded as good as it looked and trust me the finished product is a nice dance. Enough about the quality. The service should be the model for every music company in the business. It pained me to walk in the local store here to pick up a few things and basically be ignored after being treated so importantly by Dave and his staff. I recently ordered your 8" & 10" and 14" & 15" Tom sets, and I wanted to tell you I am very happy with them. First, you were able to ship them to me on Monday even though I called late in the day, and this meant that I was able to receive them before the weekend. I'm also very happy with the quality of the toms and the hardware, especially the stands which are fantastic! I was extremely pleased to see the stands you sent are the same as the stands with your three-tom sets. While having one type of stand for both types of sets is probably easier for you, I have to tell you that having a stand with a third mount (for another tom, or cymbal, or whatever!) is GREAT! You really should advertise the third mount with your two-tom sets. As you know, clamps and hardware are very/too expensive and having that extra mount/clamp is just so GREAT! (Dave H)
